Introduction
Shenyang University of Chemical Technology, in cooperation with the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education, has established the "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology". The scholarship is divided into two categories: the Joint Undergraduate Training Program (with a four-year academic system) and the Non-degree Chinese Language Teacher Training Program (Chinese Language Study).
The Joint Undergraduate Training Program enrolls students for the majors of Chinese + Chemical Engineering and Technology (Undergraduate), Chinese + International Economics and Trade (Undergraduate), Chinese + Environmental Engineering (Undergraduate), and Chinese + Computer Science and Technology(Undergraduate). Students who complete the undergraduate study plan of the relevant major and achieve qualified academic performance will be awarded a Bachelor's degree. The academic system is four years, and the language of instruction is Chinese.The Non-degree Chinese Language Teacher Training Program is divided into three types of study programs: the one-academic-year program, the one-semester program, and the four-week program.
I. ELIGIBILITY
Applicants should be non-Chinese citizen, in good physical and mental health and of good academic and behavioral standing. And the applicants should be aged between 16 and 35 years old on September 1, 2025.
II. CATEGORIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
A. Joint Program Scholarships (for undergraduate)
Applicants should have a high school diploma, age between 16 and 25 years old, and a minimum score of 210 on the HSK (Level 3).
Scholarship Coverage and Standard: The scholarship supports tuition, accommodation, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. The students are entitled to an accommodation allowance of RMB 8,400 per person/year, a standard living allowance of RMB 2,500 per person/month and a comprehensive medical insurance of RMB 800 per person/year.
B. Chinese Language Teacher Scholarships
a) Scholarship for One-Year Study Program
The program commences in September 2025, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of eleven months. International students who have benefited from similar scholarships are not eligible.
Applicants of international Chinese language education programs shall have a minimum score of 270 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required. Applicants of Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, or Chinese philosophy programs shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 4) and 60 on the HSKK test (Intermediate Level). Applicants of Chinese language study programs shall have a minimum score of 210 on the HSK test (Level 3), and priority will be given to applicants who provide an HSKK test score.
Scholarship Coverage and Standard: The scholarship supports tuition, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. The students are entitled to a standard living allowance of RMB 2,500 per person/month and a comprehensive medical insurance of RMB 800 per person/year.
b) Scholarship for One-Semester Study Program
The program commences either in September 2025 or March 2025, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of five months. Applicants holding the X1/X2 visa category are not eligible. Applicants of international Chinese language education, Chinese language and literature, Chinese history, or Chinese philosophy programs shall have a minimum score of 180 on the HSK test (Level 3), and an HSKK test score is required. Applicants of traditional Chinese medicine or Taiji culture programs are required to provide HSK test scores, and priority will be given to those who also provide an HSKK test score.
Scholarship Coverage and Standard: The scholarship supports tuition, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. The students are entitled to a standard living allowance of RMB 2,500 per person/month and a comprehensive medical insurance of RMB 400 per person.
c) Scholarship for Four-Week Study Program
The program commences either in July or December 2025, and the scholarship is provided for a maximum of four weeks. Applicants holding the X1/X2 visa category are not eligible.
Applicants of Chinese language study, traditional Chinese medicine, Taiji culture, or Chinese language plus homestay with a Chinese family program are required to provide an HSK test score. The program maybe organized and applied for by a Recommending Institution with 10-15 participants per group. Before the trip, a detailed study plan shall be made in consultation with the Host Institution(s) and such plan shall be submitted to CLEC for review and approval.
Scholarship Coverage and Standard: The scholarship supports tuition, living allowance and comprehensive medical insurance. The students are entitled to a comprehensive medical insurance of RMB 160 per person.
Note: In-service Chinese language teachers may be exempted from HSK/HSKK certificates if they provide proof of employment and a letter of recommendation from the employer. Applicants who have received the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate during Chinese Bridge competitions may submit their application documents along with their scholarship certificates to the Host Institutions directly at the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship website.

III. APPLICATION PROCEDURES
A. Joint Program Scholarships (for undergraduate)
① Login to cis.chinese.cn to register → Select “Joint Program Scholarships”→Host Institutions: Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (code 110149) → Upload application materials → Follow the application progress and emails (if the application materials do not meet the requirements, you need to resubmit) → After the application is approved, follow the emails and apply for admission → Report to the university as required. ② Visit the International Student Service of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (https://admission.syuct.edu.cn), register and submit application materials online.
B. Chinese Language Teacher Scholarships
①Login to cis.chinese.cn to register → Select “Chinese Language Teacher Scholarships”→Host Institutions: Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (code 110149) → Upload application materials → Follow the application progress and emails (if the application materials do not meet the requirements, you need to resubmit) → After the application is approved, follow the emails and apply for admission →
Report to the university as required. ② Visit the International Student Service of Shenyang University of Chemical Technology (https://admission.syuct.edu.cn), register and submit application materials online.
IV. APPLICATION PERIOD
a) For programs commencing in July, applicants must complete their applications by April 15, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by April 25.
b) For programs commencing in September, applicants must complete their applications from Mar 1 to May 15, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by May 25;
c) For programs commencing in December, applicants must complete their applications by September 15, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by September 25;
d) For programs commencing in March (Next year), applicants must complete their applications by Oct 31, and Recommending Institutions and Host Institutions must complete the review by November 10;
CLEC will entrust an expert panel to review the applications. Decisions will be based on HSK and HSKK levels and scores, geographical distribution, and other factors. The results will be published about three months before the program starts.
Note: The above dates are based on Chinese standard time.
V.APPLICATION MATERIALS
A. For all applicants
a) A scanned copy of the passport photo page;
b) A scanned copy of score reports of the HSK/HSKK tests (within the two-year validity); and
c) A reference letter by the head of the Recommending Institution.
B. For degree program applicants
a) A certificate of the highest diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official transcript, both should be notarized. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with translations in Chinese or English;
b) A certificate of no criminal record;
c) Proof of financial security;
d) Physical Examination Record for Foreigner (see Appendix 1 for blank forms and instructions) filled in English. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Physical Examination Record for Foreigner. Incomplete records or those without the seal on the perforation or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. The medical examination results are valid for 6 months. Please confirm the time when the medical examination is taken; and
e) Other supporting materials, such as letters of recommendation, award certificates, etc.
Note:
l Please upload the "Physical Examination Record for Foreigner" and the Certificate of No Criminal Record together with the scanned copy of the first page of your passport to the "Basic Information - Upload of Passport First Page" section of the application form on the website.
l Please upload all materials in JPG or PDF format.
C. In-service Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment and a reference letter from the employer.
D.Applicants under 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China.
E. Applicants shall provide additional documents as required by the Host Institutions.
VI. MISCELLANEOUS
a) Applicants must confirm the specific admission requirements and application deadlines before submitting application materials. Any progress of application will be sent to the applicant’s email address;
b) Degree students shall accept the annual assessment according to the Annual Appraisal Procedures of International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship;
c) Those who failed to register on time, failed to pass the health assessment, dropped out midway and/or suspended will be deprived of scholarship.
Students registered before the 15th (inclusive) of the month are entitled to the full allowance of that month, while those who are registered after the 15th are entitled to half of the amount. If a scholarship recipient leaves China for more than 15 days for personal reasons during the study period (excluding summer and winter vacations), the
living allowance during the period of absence from China will be suspended.
d) Evaluation and Re-evaluation of Admission Qualifications: SYUCT will evaluate andre-evaluate students’ admission qualifications upon and after registration. If admission letters, personal information, or other documents are found to be inaccurate during the evaluations or if fraud, malpractice, and other similar circumstances exist, the student will be disqualified and admission will be canceled.
e) In principle, applicants who have enjoyed similar scholarships within the past three years will not be admitted to the one-semester study program or the one-academic-year study program.
f) Scholarship students who leave China for more than 15 days due to personal reasons during their study period (excluding winter and summer vacations) will have their living expenses suspended for the duration of their absence from China. Scholarship students who suspend their studies, drop out of school, or receive disciplinary sanctions from the receiving institution due to personal reasons will have their living expenses suspended starting from the date of suspension of studies, withdrawal from school, or receipt of the disciplinary notice. The living expenses of graduates (students who complete their studies) will be paid until half a month after the graduation (completion of studies) date determined by the school.
